Elsewhere on the TV side, there’s a double-header of hotly anticipated spin-offs. First up is Bridgerton prequel Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, a limited series starring India Amarteifio that will trace the rise and romance of the eponymous monarch from the streamer’s steamy YA adaptation.

May also marks the return of wholesome lifestyle show Queer Eye, which is back for a seventh series as The Fab Five take to New Orleans to change lives while making it look amazing. And, for a bit of a change of pace, another fan favorite returning this month is the sci-fi anime series Ultraman, whose third season – and sad finale – promises an explosive end to alien battle adventures Shinjiro Hayata.

In addition to returning shows, spinoffs, and Schwarzenegger, new series in the pipeline include adult post-apocalyptic animation Mulligan, the Jada Pinkett-Smith-produced historical docudrama Cleopatra, and Black Knight, a sci- fi from South Korea. actor turned delivery driver. And yes, you read that right, a delivery driver turns.

On the film front, the big Netflix Original release of the month is the action thriller The Mother, the latest story from Mulan director Niki Caro. Defying previous statements that she’s not your Mom, Jennifer Lopez is her mother in every sense here, playing an assassin who comes out of hiding to protect the daughter she abandoned years ago. With an ensemble that includes Sound of Metal’s Paul Raci, Gael GarcĂa Bernal, and Joseph Fiennes, the talent behind and in front of the camera has nailed this one.
