James Corden is coming to the end of his run as host The Late Show.
The 44-year-old actor and comedian announced his retirement from the show last year, explaining that he “always knew it was an adventure, and I never thought it was the one it is a final destination”.

After an eight-year run hosting the CBS talk show, Corden is finally taking his final bow.
He has explained that he is ready to go back to London and spend more time with his wife, Julia, and their three children.

Earlier this year, he opened up about what prompted his decision to leave, recalling a conversation he had with his 11-year-old son.
“I was filming [Mammals] on Sunday and I came downstairs, it was about 6am and my son, who was 10 at the time, was sitting on the stairs and he said, ‘Are you working today?’ and I said, ‘I am,’ and he said, ‘I thought, but it’s Sunday’,” Corden said at the time.
“And I said, ‘I know a friend, but this schedule is all. We just have to get it done because we only have a little time before we have to go back and do the show’ and his face is kind of straight,” he continued.
“I got in the car and called my wife Jules and said, ‘I’ve realized, at best, we’ve got six more summers of Max wanting to be around us even and I can’t waste another one.’”

Corden remained quite secretive about how he planned to end the show, including who he might end it with. Rumors suggested that he was going to start a One Direction reunion, however, he quickly dispelled that theory.
Although a fifth of that appeared to be correct, as it was later announced that former band member Harry Styles will be joining the host for his final tour. Styles has appeared on the show several times over the years, and is close friends with Corden.
Also will participate Elf star Will Ferrell, who also has a special connection with the Gavin and Stacey co-creator time on the chat show, having previously been a guest during Corden’s first week in March 2015.
For the final broadcast before Corden’s final hour of the show, Tom Cruise will return for “one great final sketch” featuring The Lion King.
